Tim was born in 1963 to Donald and Shirley Wirgau. He and his four siblings - two brothers and two sisters - grew up in a Pentecostal home, where they learned the importance of God, family, and country at an early age. His father served as an Assembly of God minister, and his mother worked as a nurse taking care of cancer patients and the elderly.

Tim and his family went through a drastic change when his uncle, Harold “Rowdy” Perry, was drafted as a Marine to fight in Vietnam. Tim recalls the moment when his uncle left: “I will never forget standing by my grandfather as we watched my uncle’s plane fly off. My grandfather had tears streaming down his cheek and he was clutching me so tightly as he said, ‘He’s going to fight for our country’.” When his uncle left Tim stepped up to help his grandparents on their farm.

Tim’s work ethic only grew as he grew older. At age nine, Tim was working during the summer and after school. He was busy shoveling sidewalks, running errands, sweeping school buses, mowing lawns, walking dogs and delivering newspapers. Growing up, Tim’s family had a simple rule that shaped Tim into the man he is today: housework, homework, and then play.
By the summer of 1980, at age 17, Tim earned a job at a printing company in Coldwater, Michigan. As many young people can sympathize with today, Tim struggled and worked hard to support himself and to continue to work toward his dream of becoming a successful businessman. Although Tim’s early years were filled with a lot of hard work and a lot of struggle, they were equally defined by a young woman, Ms. Bonnie Stauffer. They hit it off, despite Tim being a little shy at first. In 1982, he and Bonnie were married. Side by side, they worked together to accomplish their dreams of becoming successful business owners.

Tim's first endeavor in the business world was in the basement of Abbotts Magic Shop in Colon, Michigan in 1986. Their business grew, with many ups and downs. In 1993 they had the opportunity to move to the more pro-business minded state of Tennessee. It was here in Paris, that they made their new home. Through their local business, Abbotts Print Shop, Tim and Bonnie realized their new dream of becoming one of the largest printing companies in west Tennessee.

Now, over twenty years later, Abbotts Print Shop is thriving, and the Wirgau’s are too. Tim and Bonnie have raised two successful children, Tonya (Casey) and Brad (Ashlee), that are a vital part of the family business. They also have two granddaughters and one grandson that are a constant source of joy in their lives. Tim and Bonnie have a strong faith, and they are thankful to God for all of his many blessings.

Tim has always believed in giving back. He and Bonnie strive to give back to the community that has blessed them so much over the years. Serving as both a county commissioner and a State Representative for our district gave him the opportunity to help make Tennessee a great state for all Tennesseans, and to the tens of thousands of people that Tim has come to know and care about, here in the 75th District. During his time as a Legislator, Tim was given the opportunity to help those in the community and he understands and knows the beliefs and concerns of the Henry county community. He is the right leader for the right time.
